Not for large rigs. Roads too narrow, 1 lane, winding with steep hills. Couldn’t get in pull through site. Sites are terrible. Place was run down. I do not recommend for anyone. We immediately left

It is a very quiet setting. Only stayed one night. Very narrow paved road for 1.5 miles to get to the park, pretty steep in some places. Our 40' fifth wheel made it through but if you're in a class A, I wouldn't book here. Booked a 50 amp, they gave away our spot and gave us a 30 amp but charged for 50 amp. If $5 meant nothing, you'd charge a flat rate. IMO.

We were there one night and it is a great little park with a large pet area. The owners were very nice and helpful and they maintain the park well. The road to it was steep, narrow and winding, but that's WV. We made it fine in our 34' coach with towed Jeep. There were larger vehicles than ours there. If you're looking for a park with a pool, clubhouse, etc., this is not for you. They do the basics very well, though.

Not really an RV park for big rigs as the road to get there states “not suitable for large trucks” and there are switchbacks on both the road and park entrance that are challenging to navigate but when we made reservations and stated we had a 42’ fifth wheel, nobody mentioned these things. It’s a pretty location but make sure you look at Google maps and feel comfortable navigating roads like these beforehand.

We arrived at Shady Rest and as reviews had mentioned the road was one lane, but not as bad as many exaggerated. It was well paved and no low hanging branches were encountered. There were very tight turns, but we've learned that is West By God Virginia! We climbed up the hill into the park and looked down on our destination. Not good. Looked like a permanent dweller ghetto. No one was around so we called the number and the owner answered and said she would "get her guy to come show us where to go." Her "guy" was nice enough, but a little off and he pointed us to the "only site we have" on top of the hill not in the campground. As you can see it's not even a site! It was a stub up with power of some sort and water next to another permanent dweller right on the entrance road. We asked where to dump and he stated there was "a hole down the hill to dump in." We were to have a full hookup site for 7 days which was confirmed with the owner on the phone yesterday!

The owner came rolling up in her car and couldn't seem to understand our irritation at not actually having a site let alone a full hookup site! We confronted her about the previous THREE phone calls confirming our reservation and she replied "I cant help it if the pipeline workers show up at night." Us: "Um ma'am those trailers have grass growing through them, they didn't get there last night." She then said we could leave if we wanted, but then she lied again, and this time about something far worse.

Two months ago when we called to make reservations she told us that her husband had died two days before. We of course offered condolences and asked if she wanted us to call later; she did not. On a previous call a week ago, she stated that her "husband was in the hospital" and then reversed herself saying "what am I saying he died a while ago." That should've been alarm bells, but true grief is a powerful thing and allowances must be made...so we ignored it. Today when caught in lies she lied again exclaiming "I can't help it my husband died this week." Too much to let go and she was called on it because her husband passed Aug 31, 2023 and lying about a loved one's passing to avoid accountability for blatantly lying to a customer is despicable.

We got in the truck and pulled out the Allstays Pro app and went to work finding a site elsewhere for the night. DO NOT STAY HERE. You will be lied to and the place looks like an unsafe dump.
