About Campground

We're shedding the old name, Rustic Sands, and transforming into a new RV Resort!

Category 5 Hurricane Michael passed directly over Mexico Beach in 2018, nearly destroying the resort and everything else in its path. It's been a hard few years for the resort, but with new ownership and a great team that cares about your comfort, we're working hard to turn this into a 5-star destination you'll be sure to enjoy. If you've been here before, we invite you to visit us again! You'll be excited to see the changes and renovations taking place.

Mexico Beach RV Resort is under new ownership and renovations. For more details about renovations and what amenities are impacted, please call our office prior to your stay at 850-648-5229.

This RV park is really run down. The site we booked was already taken when we arrived. The site they put us on was so unlevel we couldn't get the jacks set. Ended up going in backwards opposite the hookups to finally get set up. The sewer drain was clogged. Had to wait for maintenance to fix that. Mostly upset about losing power 3 different times, once >2 hours in 100° July weather. Our dogs were in the RV while we were at the beach. No one from the office called us to alert us the power was off. We came back to find the power was off and the RV hot. The fire ants come out of the grass and attack if you step off your outdoor rugs. Deer flys are pretty bad but we were prepared for that. After several years of this being our "go-to" beach destination, we won't be back.

Do NOT stay here. Run down, grass a foot high(because the mower broke) year round residents with piles of junk surrounding their campers. NO REFUNDS. So you pay in full expecting “resort “ conditions and end up at Fred Sanfords junk yard. Don’t do it.

Reserved and paid for 3 nights about a month earlier. Well as it turned out it happen to be the same time hurricane Idalia came to town which was headed for Mexico Beach RV resort. Naturally you would think since you can’t camp they would refund you. After talking with them they would not refund my 3 day stay.. Terrible business its not like i cancelled because i changed my mind they expect you to stay during a cat 3 hurricane. Would never recommend staying at that camp site.

Rented one of the small cabins for family to come while we were staying in our Rv. I picked up the keys for them since they would be arriving late. Thank goodness I did. They charge $100 cleaning fee. Not sure who made the $100. When I went to turn the air on, the cabin was filthy. Sand and dirt everywhere. Bathroom sink dirty, door mat and shower mat covered in sand and dirt. Needless ti say I cleaned it myself, because I couldn’t have my family staying in the filth. While making the bed, the mattress fell. Found that the frame was broke and there were concrete pavers scattered under bed. Had to stack them up under the frame. The office manager acted surprised when I told her. Well someone knew the bed was broke or they would not have had pavers under it. The next morning the cabin stunk so bad. Finally found that the smell was coming from the air conditioner filter. It had a solid layer of filth. When I told the manager (Charming) how horrible it was and that I had picture, all she said was “Oh my gosh, I’m sorry”. maybe the person who does the cleaning did not show for some reason, the LEAST they could have done was not charge for the cleaning fee since I had to clean myself. Terrible management. As far as the Rv sites- it was great. We met some amazing people. If we had any questions or issues, Wanda, who works in the office on weekends is definitely the go to person. Answered any questions we had. Super friendly and seems to know what is going on in the park and community.

Great location to the beach!! This will be our go to spot for camping, but would not recommend the cabins to anyone. I was so embarrassed when my family arrived.

FKA Rustic Sands, the Mexico Beach RV Resort has been making a comeback since Hurricane Michael. What you will not see is beautiful landscaping and lots of shade trees; the hurricane took care of that. However, what you will see includes level, easy-to-park spaces, FHU, clean bathhouse, and lots of peace and quiet, for the most part. Staff are friendly and helpful. There appear to be permanent residences within the campground, and one man in particular had large, barking dogs staked out in his "yard." The canal next to the campground has a lot of trash in it, but I don't think that the owners of the campground have anything to do with that. Sandspurs are a problem in the campsites, so don't walk around barefoot! Overall, though, we enjoyed the quiet and the proximity to the beach.
