It is companies like yours that think you know it all. Buying up family owned campgrounds and turning them into a money hungry business. I've grown up spending my summers at a seasonal campground for over 20 years. Then companies like yours come in and ruin it all. The good times, the memories all destroyed by money hungry businesses like this one. Not sure how you sleep at night knowing all the damage you have done to many families
We left after rent was raised by 800 dollars. Was told it was to "remain competitive" we moved less than 20 minutes away where the rent is about half and a longer season. The new park has sites that are 2 to 3 times as big and the place has way more amenities. I was back to pokegama recently and saw that literally zero improvements have been made whatsoever. The best thing we ever did was move our camper away from there. Pokegama has lots of great people and I hope they can find their way out of there. The good people deserve better.
Found us a spot across from family on very short notice. Beautifully maintaned, easy access to the lake and the fishing is fantastic. Its RV park with tent camping available. Yearly stop.
Have been camping here with 5 other families for several years at various times of the year. This year was disappointing. Apparently changed management. Lot size has decreased tremendously due to trying to cut some in half to create more availability. The pool was closed for repairs. The playground was filled with weeds and overgrown grass. The office was barely open and when it was it was very limited. Had to drive to town to get ice each time. The kids' game room was for 10 and older but wouldn't allow our 10-year-olds and older to be in there until a parent came to show the rules posted online. Campers are way too close to each other, had to step over a neighbor's sewer line to get to my camper....practically touching it while cooking on our grill. The lots were not mowed or weed whipped, tall grass and overgrown weeds were everywhere...which makes for ALOT of mosquitos. This caused us to be in our camper early each night. Would have thought a big holiday weekend with a lot of campers coming through, they would have mowed and kept up the lawn prior. Along with making smaller lots...cutting previous ones in half...the area was all dug up for new sewer lines and the terrain coming in and out of the camper was uneven dirt/sand everywhere. Hard to park a camper on this surface. Lastly, the campground charges an additional $20 fee to hold your camp spot!!!!! This is ridiculous, it should be first come first serve when you make a reservation a year in advance like us, we have 5 families camping so it forces us to pay the extra $20 each so we are guaranteed to be by each other...apparently that isn't guaranteed when you secure your reservation with your down payment....therefore they made an easy $100 off our group by charging this. Free and easy money!!!
Took a walk around the campground and was disappointed to see the overgrown/weedy yards and empty lots. Some looked abandoned and had old furniture sitting around. This used to be a nice place to visit. Doesn't appear like anyone is held accountable for yard maintenance anywhere on the campground.
Almost forgot...water was shut off while we were there to fix something. we went without water for a while...staff drove around golf cart to announce this, I approached the staff member on golf cart with the question "When do you estimate the water to be back up and running?"....the staff's response...." When its fixed". Rude customer approach.
Wont be returning next year !
