Amazing chickee and quite possibly the best national park wilderness bathroom in the system. We took shelter from a storm here and the accessible porta-potty came through for us in a big way. It’s super clean and had plenty of space for us to wait out the wind, rain, and lightning. After things calmed down we ended up staying the night as we couldn’t make our planned chickee stop. The still water and sunrise over pearl bay the next morning was phenomenal and, again, that bathroom…! Other excellent touches: comfortable decking material for the platform, convenient cleats for tying up our canoe, and easy access to the hell’s bay trail. Definitely worth the stop!
This was the highlight of our Everglades trip. The trip there and back are an adventure that took us around 3 hours each way. The pearl bay is peaceful and the chickee is cleans and in good shape. The bathrooms are also clean. Adventure awaits.
