The Peaks are backpack-in only and reservations are required one day in advance.Call 1-877-722-6762 or go to ncparks.gov/new-river-state-park/home or reserveamerica.com.Sites are labeled and hiking distances are indicated on the map. The sites offer a rock fire ring, no pit toilet, and no vehicle access.
Six persons per site. A maximum of twelve people is allowed at the group site.
It's a secluded area where you can canoe on and/or enjoy the view of the river. The sound of nature will sooth your mind. Their welcome center also has souvenir and its cleanest.
Unbelievably great experience!! We camped here for a couple days in December. We can’t say enough good things about the staff. The Park Rangers were so helpful and informative. We really appreciate when someone takes the extra time to give information and advice on the park/area and answer questions. The park facilities were EXCEPTIONAL. We camp at a lot of State Parks…this one knocked it out of the park! So clean and well taken care of. Thanks for a great time and we will definitely be back ✌🏼
