Located around a scenic meadow and surrounded by majestic trees such as Engelmann spruce and Lodgepole pine, Target Meadows has a unique history. It was used by U.S. Army soldiers stationed at Ft. Walla Walla as a summer encampment and artillary range from the late 1880s through 1906. Visitors who explore the campground and surrounding area can even find grooves in trees left by the Calvary's bullets. Located at the end of the road is the Burnt Cabin Trailhead. This trail will lead you down to the South Fork Walla Walla River Trail.

Majestic trees and beautiful campground. Very private space apart from other campsites so we don't worry about other people camping near us. Lots of hiking trails.
We try to come here every year. 2019 was a banner year for Huckleberries. But even when the berries aren't as abundant, this is a nice campground for hiking and camping. Be sure to bring your own water supply.
Amazing place to camp! Is for sure a hidden gem of a spot!!Clean restrooms and a great scenic drive in and out. Great place to go huckleberry picking or even just to go trail hiking for a day or two. Definitely going to come back soon.
Beautiful campground in the Umatilla National Forest. Large sites, well maintained dirt road. Easy access to some great trails in the area.
Only downsides were the bathrooms were getting a little full and one was locked, causing a bit of a walk to the next one (not a huge deal). Also, there is no water currently due to it being contaminated. We headed over to the Alpine Outpost nearby to fill up.
