About Campground

Within easy access of Highway 101, Tahkenitch offers two traditional campgrounds, two boat launches and two trailheads are directly adjacent to Highway 101 and Tahkenitch Lake. The lake provides opportunities for bass fishing. Tahkenitch Creek and Tahkenitch Dune trail provide opportunities to hike through the coastal forest, as well as access to the dunes and beach. ACTIVITIES Biking Boating Camping: Several developed campgrounds with restrooms, picnic tables and fire rings exist in this area. Fishing Hiking: Tahkenitch Creek trail provides a little bit of everything the Dunes has to offer; forest, sand dunes, rivers and possible loop opportunites. Tahkenitch Dunes trail crosses a forested ridgeline and enters an expanse of large dunes before hitting the beach. The two trails can be connected for a longer hiking experience. Along the beach the trail passes by nesting areas for the threatened shorebird, the snowy plover. Follow posted regulations and call ahead to find out about restrictions. Off Highway Vehicle: The Tahkenitch Area is closed to OHV use with the exception of the Clam Bed OHV Trail which provides local access for clamming. There are no OHV facilities or staging provided here. Picnicking Recreational Vehicles Wildlife Viewing: Bird Watching: A variety of bird habitats exist along the trails and around the lakes. Rustic camping spot just off the road. camp spots are all different. It is better to have a look at your site as some are right up to the edge of the campground road. No showers and the women's toilet was out, but they had outhouses that did not smell. There Is a great walk to the 2 mile hike to the dunes.

Picking the right site can be a little hit or miss. Sometimes you're literally connected to a group next to you. The trails are wonderful. Facilities are well kept. Picnic tables and fire pits are a little worn down but it appears they're in the process of updating them. There is road noise from Hwy 101. Beach access is nearby with several different activity options and the dunes are pretty incredible. I'd recommend to others but more so now that I have it scouted out.

Nice place, our site was small, but had it's own charm (01). Definitely only room for one car. As others have noted, restrooms failed. There's a vault toilet as a back up, but that was out of toilet paper until the port a potty arrived. So come prepared. Sites vary widely in size and set up. Near Florence which is g

handy.

Very beautiful campsite, though the spots were very small and barely fit a single car, I don't know how 8 people and two cars could fit into one spot. It's pretty packed in, you are very close to your neighbors. On the website they listed running water and flush toilets but currently they are closed and have a portapotty. Lots to do around the area, great swimming spots
