A great view of the Chemung River greets those who visit the overlook. The Battle that took place here on August 29, 1779 was the only battle of the Sullivan Clinton Expedition Against the Iroquois Indians.
We had a wonderful time at the reenactment on Sunday. It was a great experience as if we were actually there during the battle. The shuttles that were provided were great!!
Great experience with loads of local history and a monument to boot. Reeactors of the Battle of Newtown was very interesting and informative. Adults and kids alike seemed to love it including the cannon fire. Showers/bathrooms are extremely clean and new. Pop machine available. Hiking trails with great views.
Clean spacious cabins, private flush toilet. Firepit, grill refrigerator in cabins. Spectacular wooded area. Amenities were spotless. Overall, I highly recommend and had an enjoyable weekend.
My husband and I stayed in Cabin #5 for a long weekend with our 2 goldendoodle pups. We found the cabin very clean and the perfect size for the 4 of us. I was very impressed with the cabin and campground facilities. Everything was clean and well maintained. We would definitely enjoy coming back in the future.
