From the intersection of US 64/84 and state road 112 turn left on sr 112 and go 13 miles until you reach the El Vado State Park road and turn right and travel 4 miles to the entrance of the park.
After seeing and staying at the nearby Heron Lake reservoir this one was kinda underwhelming.
Perhaps with higher water levels it would be nicer but I have no plans to camp here.
It was a sad sight when we pulled up to see the lake. There was no lake on the end we went to. You can drive out to where the middle used to be. Its pretty much dried up. I was shocked as googling it showed a beautiful full lake. The drought has hit NM hard that is for sure. Hopefully the lakes can recover.
I've had a lot of fun fishing and hunting remember when Zeke's Lakeshore Inn in was open and Michael bentz Willis Cleo ran the place and when Pat and screed linstrom ran 6 Lakeshore rent that was my furnished time ever
First they need to really let water in it is really low and you can't actually go inside of el vado so I had to go to heron Lake that's a nice beautiful view of the reservoir if you get a camping site next to the reservoir it's pretty good I guess
