If you like a quiet place that is out of the way then this is the place. The town of Scribner is just a few miles down the road if you need ice, drinks, food etc. I was at Dead Timber this week and the back side of the SRA at the main campground is closed so hiking to the Elkhorn River appears to be off limits. However, the rest of the SRA is open and there was an RV setup at the campsite so I assume services are operable. If you like bass fishing you can catch bass all day long on spinner baits. 8/23/20

This park is well taken care of good camping areas the don't think you'll catch any fish in the lake , if you do it would probably only be bluegill or bullhead but it's close to west point !!

Good primitive camping. We were the only campers there, so if you want out of the way and remote this is for you. No reservations but none really needed as there are usually not many people there. We paid for an electrical site but the electric sockets did not work. Not sure if they had them turned on. The fishing was not great. But perhaps with a small boat it could be better. It's mowed every two weeks and has a relatively clean outhouse.

This place is a quiet, peaceful campground that’s tucked away from the typica busy, overpopulated campgrounds. My husband and I took our 3 kids and 2 dogs here and we really enjoyed ourselves. Suzanne the campsite host was so friendly and welcoming! I wish more people knew about this place, but then again I want it to stay as peaceful as it is. We will definitely be back!

This is a little hidden gem of the Nebraska State Park System. The history is pretty neat.

Dead Timber was hit hard in the flood of 2019 but since 2021, you can see improvements each time we have come out.

It’s quiet and not overrun with people. The walking trails are nice and there’s a variety of plants and wildlife to enjoy.

We’ve camped on more than one occasion and have enjoyed it each time. Camp sites are clean and maintained. Camp hosts are friendly and make sure to check in to see if anything (like the bathroom) needs attention.

I’m honestly surprised more people do not utilise this State Park.
