My beloved BigHorn Mtns ... I can go on and on because my history with these mountains goes back to childhood ... There is no place like it!! We stayed at South Fork Lodge where the staff is wonderful, hospitable folks. They are helpful & accommodating, the cabins are so quaint and rustic with THE MOST comfortable beds!! You will definitely pass yourself a great time here!
Amazing views. Breathtaking scenery. Get someone else to drive while you look all around. Stop at all the turnouts and take a breath of that fresh clean mountain air.
Free National Forest dispersed camping 9.6 miles west of the far edge of Buffalo on Highway 16. Small sign on right says Grouse Mountain---turn left and there's parking for over a mile alongside the road in the grass. No amenities.
Good news is you're twenty-three hundred feet above the town so cooler weather, also you can see the Telecom towers eight miles away and there's terrific cell service.
Buffalo is a little old mining and railroad town from the 1880s that's only about 4,400 people, 4600 FT elevation. But there's a couple of saloons historic district a few things to see and do.
Absolutely beautiful, this trip was devoted to a fall motorcycle ride. Rode down 16 through tensleep, up to greybull, then back through the bighorns using 14. If you're headed to yellowstone, heed the signs directing you to this drive, you wont be disappointed.
One of God's beautiful creations! 😍 All of it is amazing! The whole park has so many features, and goes on for miles and miles! Just raw beauty in every which direction you see!! Couldn't believe the weather temp difference! Although 8k feet up! Stay and camp if you get the chance! It's FREE for 14 days then you have to move to a different spot but get to stay another 14 days!! WOW so awesome!
