We camped, went kayaking, tubing in the river. 6 couples on this trip and this is our 6th Annual year as a group. The last 5 years we spent on the rifle river and first year on the Muskegon River. Beyond Beautiful river!!! The service to and from the river was excellent very nice friendly staff. We had a mix up on the delivery of the tubes with another group and the owner handled it wonderfully. The campgrounds are very accommodating to the groups big or large you will not be disappointed.
Great place to get transport for your paddle craft or tube, they also rent kayaks and tubes. They have a couple of different float options and transport of your own craft and yourself is only $10! Their busses are older but well maintained. I would say the only real gripe I have was last time we rented a kayak for one person in our group it was really dirty and full of dead leaves, bugs, spiders... I had to clean it off in the river before anyone would want to get in it.
My partner and I chose this campground as our first trip as an engaged couple. I have been to Newaygo a few times floating down the Muskegon River. We found the mystery Creek campground on Google search. Checked out their website and decided to go with them. We chose a rustic campsite, they gave us number seven. The campsite was perfect for our setup. The staff was really welcoming and friendly. They have Ice, Wood, Tube rental, cleanest outhouse facilities and they are LGBTQ+ friendly. We went on the 6 hour float and saw deer, cranes, fish, waterfalls, an eagle and more. We will be returning before the season is over with our children. I have already advertised on Facebook for them. Mystery Creek we look forward to doing business again.
Jason and hos family were wonderful hosts !! Jason personally made sure that he could work our 16 person group in for the river trip since he was already tending to a group of 80 that day. Then after they were waiting for us at the end to bring our tubes back to camp ! The Muskegon river is a beautiful river to tube with lots of aandbar areas to stop. Jason also was able to get us a nice shady & Sunny camping spot for all 16 of us two trailers and 5 tents. It was a perfect campsite with all the games right across for us to play cornhole volleyball connect 4 jenga. As well as a short walk down a hill a bit of beautiful river acess. Thanks again Jason !
