The campground at Many Glacier is one of the most popular campgrounds in Glacier National Park. The campground is situated within trees for tent and RV campers, though there are only 13 sites that can accommodate vehicle lengths up to 35 feet in length. Bring your binoculars, as there are opportunities to view wildlife like bighorn sheep, moose, and bears. Many Glacier also provides access to some of the best day hikes in the park. Advanced reservations are required for all sites.
The Many Glacier Campground is located on the east side of Glacier National Park, near the end of the Many Glacier Road. Take Montana State Highway 89 to the town of Babb, Montana (located approximately 8 miles north of the town of St. Mary, which is 40 miles north of the town of Browning, Montana and 10 miles south of the Alberta, Canada border). At the town of Babb, Montana turn west on the Many Glacier Road. Drive approximately 12 miles west following the signs for Many Glacier Campground. The campground is located about 1/4 mile before the road ends at the Swift Current Motor Inn parking lot.
There is a primitive camping season from mid-September to October 31, weather permitting.
I had a great time at Many Glacier Campground in Glacier National Park, USA. The location is stunning, surrounded by majestic mountains and pristine lakes. The campsites are well-maintained, and there are bear-proof food storage lockers for safety. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the campground can get crowded during peak season, so booking in advance is essential. Overall, a fantastic camping experience in the heart of the wilderness!
This is a huge campground ⛺️. From what I’ve seen it’s quite popular, but that doesn’t interfere with your experience as the space is huge and there are a lot of trees, so it feels quiet. The lakes around it provide you for a nice wildlife sporting experience. Lots of trails around would keep you busy for days. I recommend this campground.
P.S. no showers, but the toilets are clean and look brand new (women’s).
I camped at many glacier campground in Glacier N.P. for 5 nights. It was great that many hiking trails are available. But to get to West Side of N.P., it takes 50mins+ drive. At the nearest lake from this C.G., deer or mooses are visiting almost every day, so you may want to stop by to quietly watch.
My heart is bursting with joy as I reflect on the epic adventure I recently experienced in Glacier National Park and our stay at Many Glacier Campground. We hiked to Iceberg Lake, paddle boarded all over the local lakes and creeks. We had coffee with moose, celebrated happy hour watching grizzlies (from a safe distance) and a couple of black bears made an appearance. Pretty epic! Practice bear safety and put food away and always carry bear spray.
I almost gave this 4 stars, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. The only critique is how crowded and close quarters the campground is, but other than that, this place is perfect. In some ways, it’s TOO nice haha. The bathrooms were pristine and there was fresh water, both of which we didn’t expect. We don’t need much after a long day of hiking, so to come back to a beautiful site is all we need. It’s right by various trail heads which made exploring a breeze. We saw 4 moose right next to the campsite and we saw goats every night on the hill.
