Beautiful campground! We were right on the water and we had a great view of the lake. There was a nice walking trail that went along the lake. There is a really nice playground. Really nice facilities. Very dog friendly, too.
My family and I visited Wells State Park 2 years ago, and we've talked about it ever since. Our experience was AMAZING!!! We trailered our dirt bikes and camping gear and headed that way. First of all, I recommend going on a Wednesday, or Thursday to avoid the weekend crowd, and to get the ultimate site. All the sites are good, but we wanted one with an open-lake-view. When we arrived we set up camp, built a fire, and settled in for the night. It was comfortable, quiet, and the weather was perfect in August (not too hot/not too cold. A nice breeze from the lake) The next day, we went riding on the great trails nearby, and exploring the hiking trails within the campground. There is a beach that we swam and sunbathed at, and horseshoe pits. All around, we loved the experience at Wells State Park. The Lake Michigan views are unmatched. My family and I would all highly recommend this park to everyone. Enjoy!!!!!!
i'm a minor with parents who love camping, we've camp hosted here since like 2018, but we've been to multiple campgrounds before but this is by far my favorite campground. so i will put my best information about this!!
im a little bit of a photographer, and i've captured my best pictures at this campground!! i reccomend if you dont like people at campgrounds be there before memorial day and/or on the weekdays, before summer/school gets out ! and if you're a person who likes it being loud at a campground its good for your kids! beware that this campground is in the middle of three towns, stephensin , escanaba and minominee (applogies for my spelling) all three being around 40 minutes from the campground. the closest place there is a resturaunt , a gas station and a fishing place . if youre looking for good food but slightly expensive, i would go to the gas station, if you want less-good food and expensive i suggest the resturaunt. (no offense). the fishing place is quite fun, the campground entertainer takes the kids over to the fishingn place and provides fishing poles aswell. very fun, activities are also held behind the camphost site every day (except for like sunday and monday i think), and the employees are very nice . overall the best campground ive been to.
Just spent a couple of nights at Wells State Park! Another excellent State Park in Michigan!
Not many campers in the middle of the week, so very quiet. I had good cellphone coverage so was able to work remotely for the days we were there!
Excellent Playground for the kids - over 130 sites, many backing up to the water. Sites were well maintained and level.
Oh, some of the best bathrooms and shower facilities you will find in a state park!
Wells State Park is an absolute gem! The beach is pristine and offers a perfect spot to relax and soak up the sun. The campground is well-maintained, providing a comfortable and picturesque setting for a camping getaway.
The swings add a touch of nostalgia and are a hit with both kids and adults. The restroom facilities are clean and conveniently located, ensuring a hassle-free experience.
What sets this park apart is the sense of peace and serenity that permeates the surroundings. It's a tranquil haven that allows visitors to truly connect with nature.
Overall, Wells State Park is a five-star destination, offering a blend of natural beauty, great amenities, and a serene atmosphere. It's a must-visit for anyone seeking a peaceful retreat in nature's embrace
