This is an important part of Michigan’s history and I highly recommend visiting. They have done a fantastic job of rebuilding and recreating scenes giving you an idea of what life was like in 1880’s. Bring the family, dogs on a leash are welcome but not allowed in any of the buildings. Worth the time.

The first time I went to Fayette State Park was about 50 years ago. They have done so much to restore and preserve history. It was fun to go back and see it again. It's even better than I remembered it. You can walk through buildings. There are pictures and plaques along the way to tell you about each area.. worth the stop

Wonderful step back in time surrounded by beautiful views! Added bonus of tasty ice cream available which was a welcome delight when we visited on an 80 degree day! I use a cane to get around and the trails are mostly accessible with no more than moderate effort…would be more challenging with walker or wheelchair, but still possible with assistance.

Went in winter and had the entire place to ourselves. It was magical, having had just snowed the night before. The building were not staffed or open, but experiencing the hike and history was still wonderful. Can't wait to go back in summer for a more immersive experience.
