From I-44 exit 45 turn west on hwy 49,get in left hand lane, less than 1/4 mile turn left (road is hard to see at nght).Go into Apache gate (note: gate closed on Sunday). Follow road about 2 1/2 miles, small campground on left immediately after golf course. Check in at bldg 2502 RECPLEX on Sheidan rd.
If you can get on Fort Sill as an ID holder, this is a GREAT place to stay. Only bummer is, no showers. LOTS of history to learn about.
Very quite place with just a few campsites. Relatively convenient to the Wichita Mountains and Lake Elmer Thomas Recreational area. The site had full electric, water, and onsite sewer hookup. For $19 a night, we will definitely be stay again.
