Margies Cove West Campround includes day-use parking for ten vehicles, three campsites with picnic tables and steel fire rings, a vault toilet, and informational signage.
The campground is adjacent to Margies Cove West Trailhead.
A high-clearance, two-wheel-drive vehicle is suitable for this road.
To access the campground and trailhead, take Arizona Hwy 85 to Woods Road (just south of mile post 134) and turn east. At the cattleguard/dirt road, turn immediately left and follow the brown MARGIES COVE TRAIL signs which guide you west, then north, along the Hwy 85 fenceline, then east 3.8 miles to Route 8001E. Turn right, drive south 1.2 miles to the campground and trailhead.

Beautiful spot for off the grid camping! Wouldn’t recommend attempting without a four-wheel drive high clearance vehicle though.
Margie’s Cove is like a slice of wilderness heaven.
We decided to spend our weekend in the free campground in between Buckeye and Gila End. I was a little nervous as I am not a fan of campgrounds without electricity and water but I also wanted to get away from the city and relax in nature and hang with my best friend.
After the bumpy ride in we set up camp in the middle site since it had a tree that provided some shade. It was nice to hear nothing but nature sounds and watch the little squirrels run around.
Just be sure to bring some Lysol wipes and toilet paper for the bathroom that's essentially a hole in the ground. Not my favorite but when in nature you gotta do what you gotta do.
Otherwise this is a great site if you wanna get away from it all and feel like you are in the middle of nowhere.
The wilderness Is That Way
We went here for my Bday. 3 days 2 nights. Tears in my wife's eyes because she didn't want to leave. Beautiful, clean, and many miles of exploration. Good for camping, hiking, or just a day trip. We will definitely be back.
