Located 4 miles east of Mayfield on Forest Road #022.
We only saw hipster deer (cuz they were hanging out in the middle of the day), the squirrels were on a low sodium diet (cuz they took the peanuts but left the pretzels), it kept acting like it was going to rain but never did, and there were so many wasps. More than I have ever seen. We had a blast though!
Quiet, cheap, and clean. Definitely a good stop overnight or a place to get away a few days. It is quite close to ATV hotspots so be prepared for some dust and noise.
A midweek visit to the Manti La Sal National Forest at Twin Lake Campground at was extra quiet. Many deer passed through the campsite. An older couple stopped by to relive their previous stays at this enjoyable location. Hiking opportunities abound. Off roading seems popular but was not present while we visited.
Very clean and remote. About 5 miles of well-maintained dirt road, although it gets steep, but the view at the top is worth it all! No trash cans at the top, but a restroom and a beautiful wetland.
Beautiful campground. No picnic tables in the regular sites and only one in the group area. No potable water. No pavilions. Lots of fun four wheeler and ATV trails. Lots of nature sounds with crickets, toads, and birds.
