Longhorn Park Picnic Area overlooks the beautiful Benbrook Lake in north-central Texas. The park is an excellent destination for barbecuing and boating along the lake shore.
Fossil hunting is popular around Benbrook. Visitors can search for ancient clams and corral remnants from more than 85 million years ago.
The picnic area is on the highest part of the lake and overlooks the east side of the dam. The lake, in the Grand Prairie region of Texas, sits on the Trinity River on the southwest edge of the Fort Worth metropolitan area.
Prevailing southwesterly winds on the lake attract plenty of avid windsurfers to the lake. Fishing, hiking, swimming and boating are popular pastimes. The lake record for largemouth bass is over thirteen pounds. Other catches include carp, sunfish and flathead catfish.
Longhorn does not offer direct lake access, but a short walk will take visitors to a swimming area.
The large picnic shelter can accommodate up to 100 guests. A volleyball court and horseshoe pit offer additional recreation opportunities.
Baseball fields, horseback rentals and golf courses are located near the picnic area.
The Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District and the Fort Worth Zoo are also local attractions.
From Fort Worth, Texas, take Interstate 20 to Highway 377 south. At the third stoplight turn left onto Winscott. Continue for 0.7 miles to Lakeside Drive. Turn right and follow for 1.7 miles to the park.
My wife and I went to this new location for the first time last night. I had the 9 oz filet with a salad and fire-roasted corn. She opted for the 6 oz sirloin with shrimp.
My steak was very tender and cooked as ordered. It was very good and I really liked the corn also.
My wife enjoyed her shrimp and sirloin also.
The food was good..my steak was a little salty, but the loaded potato, and lobster tail was good. The molten lava cake is large enough for 3 people and is worth the money.
The sevice was great!!
Waited an extra 10 minutes before we could even be seated, even though we were on the list!
We went here for our wedding anniversary, (23-year wedding anniversary) My husband and I brought our son because we came from Utah County to get away for the weekend! Ordered our food and I was thoroughly disappointed. THIS was not what I Ordered.
It was supposed to be parmessan crusted sirloin, it ended up being undercooked cheese mushrooms
Butt end of some steak!
My husband New York Strip was VERY DRY like hamburger!
Luciky the Mgr came by told him the issues, he apologized and said he would take care of it himself personally! He came back 15min later with both new steaks and they were so much better!! Thanks again for taking care of your customers.
We did not have to pay for our steak dinner!
Wow! What a difference between the first time when the opened and now. The first time was just another steak house. This time wow we started off with the artichoke dip and pita bread. if you haven’t tried this, you must try it when you come it was fantastic! We also got the chicken nugget appetizer. It was like green chili/mild curry. Wow.
When we got our entrées, we were all to stuff to eat from indulging on the appetizers. I tasted my Parmesan chicken and my ribs and they were fantastic. They made a great snack later that night. All in all everything was pert and over the top delicious! If you haven’t been to the longhorn, it needs to be on the top of your list.
Longhorn Steakhouse has wonderful service, delicious food, and even when it is crowded they get you in quickly. They often get you in faster than the estimated time they give you. Steaks are cooked perfectly, even in the steak salad. The seafood chowder is amazing. Our favorite is the spinach dip appetizer with pita bread. My only wish is that they would get diet dr pepper.
