Very nice park. Quiet and serene on a misty spring Monday. We did the couchville lake trail which was paved and quite easy but very enjoyable.
This State Park is dedicated to the long hunters (usually 6-18 months) who arrived in this region by the 1760s. Some well known long hunters were Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett. The State Park consists of approximately 2600 acres with fishing and hiking. The visitor center is very nice and a neat gift shop. The employees were very friendly and helpful.
I went on a 4 mile ranger led hike with Ranger Jason, recently. He stopped at different intervals to show interesting trees and ground cover. The hike had no elevation and the trail was easy to see/follow. It was very enjoyable! My only advice...bring some bug spray! I didn't know I was getting bitten and I have a million bites! (Maybe not quite a million. 😀). I'll be going back to try another trail!
Most beautiful 😍 The views of the lake are amazing here. You can fish off of the dock. You can rent a boat or canoe. You can walk the trails around the lake. The trail goes over the lake on a beautiful bridge. You will see deer here, wild geese, owls, and other various wildlife. There are picnic areas around the lake and clean bathroom facilities. There is a boat ramp, too. Overall, it's an amazing State Park and a great place to visit.
I have been visiting all of the state parks and stopping at each gift shop or visitor center to get my passport book stamp. The young lady at the desk was very nice.
She was assisting a young man who is learning how to greet people at the visitor center. Sorry I didn’t get her name but I want her to know. She was very nice and helpful.
This park is nice. I like that they have a path going around the lake beautiful views. Plenty of activities for families.
