Located off US 219, 24 miles south of Elkins and seven miles south of Huttonsville. US 219 Turn onto Rt 219-16 (Kumbrabow Forest Road) at Elkwater and follow to forest. Coming north on 219, this turn-off is eight miles from Valley Head. Another access to the forest is from WV 15, turning onto a rockbase road at Monterville.
It's a beautiful scenic drive through the forest. Definitely recommend taking a picnic with you and go enjoy the beautiful views.
We fell in love with this state forest on our first visit last week! Mill Creek Falls are a gem. We enjoyed the Clay Run trail that lead us to a fantastic overlook.
Had a wonderful time. Loved the mountain air. Friendly and informative staff. Stayed in the cabins. Clean, rustic, exactly as described. Only feedback, the trails were narrow and some wildly overgrown making it difficult for children to traverse and parents to relax.
Gorgeous WV State park located in Randolph county. We stayed in the rustic cabin #5 and loved it. Everything you need is included. The cabins sit in a valley and is very peaceful and relaxing. There is a gorgeous waterfall right out from cabin 1. There is also a campground and picnic areas with a playground. There are hiking trails all over the park that lead to some of the prettiest Mountain View’s. Highly suggest making the trip to visit this WV state park.
A quiet place surrounded by Mill Creek and mountains. Beautiful scenery. The campground had a playground in the center so the children were entertained. A track to ride bikes and Mill Creek waterfalls is just four miles away.
