I too wish there were more than 5 stars as expressed in another post! We made a day trip that was about 4 hours round trip from TN and definitely worth the trip. The park ranger was a delightful lady with a passion for her job and KY parks (especially her own). She suggested areas for us to particularly hike to in our limited time and we were not disappointed. The dramatic rock formations capture your eye at every turn. Some of my pictures in the natural rock amphitheater look like artwork with the different rock colors. We are already looking forward to returning in the spring when the rhododendron are in bloom.
First, Sherri is the nicest and most helpful person I’ve ever talked to at a campsite.
We visited on a short camping trip. The park is beautiful. The scenery is spectacular. The camping areas and facilities are very well maintained. All the staff was super helpful.
They have eight or ten primitive sites. Maybe six of them are along the road where the picnic shelters are located, with clean bathrooms in east walking distance. Full shade, mulch tent pad, room for one vehicle to park. Each has a fire ring with a cooking grate on the fire ring. No electric, no water.
Two are located across the pond from the gift shop. Two or three more up the hill, accessed directly off the park road. All these appear to have a similar setup to the ones adjacent to the picnic shelters.
We stayed over a holiday weekend and we were the only campers in the picnic shelter area. Kinda weird cause not what we’re accustomed to but nicely silent!
Only regret here is that we couldn’t stay longer, looking forward to going back. Thanks, Kingdom Come!
Amazing park! Very clean and well maintained campground areas. Sherry was super helpful on a perfect campsite. Whippoorwills, towhees and flying squirrels were my nighttime serenade. Beautiful sunset views.
This is a hidden gem! I grew up not too far away and never went here. Came on a day trip while visiting family and loved it!
They have mini-golf and peddle boats that both go for just $3 a person!
To see the Log Rock, you can either drive right up to it or take a short hike.
Nice campground, and the lake has lots of fish.
Good place for family gatherings or large groups since they have big pavilions available.
Very friendly staff!
Can't recommend this park enough!
