On The Beautiful Scenic Allegheny River
Home of the KIC River Drifters relax on the river by drifting down on a kayak, canoe, or tube!
My family has had a camp here for 45 years. We have seen it go from mostly tents to campers. There has been a significant increase in the number of campsites and people. Still the atmosphere we love remains.
It is an affordable camp with amenities needed to keep it comfortable. The people are friendly. The island is safe. There are always groups of kids walking around, exploring and playing. Plenty of 10mph road for them to ride bikes.
It's not the same as having your own cabin on a few acres of land, or camping with tents in the woods. But it's a far cry from the cities and suburbs of Pittsburgh. Despite the density of campsites it is peaceful.
Absolutely love it here! Although I really miss my friend James, Jamy is doing a hell of a job. Still in the same family running it and it shows.
When I have any kind of problem, he deals with it.
The atmosphere is very family oriented. It's a family owned and operated camp ground. The location is beautiful. It's located right along the Allegheny River, which is great for fishing, kayaking, and boating. Heck, it even has it's own boat launch. The owners are great people and will do anything to help. They are super great people. The store has snacks and drinks for the kids and they have ice on the ready for any of your adventures. The bath houses are clean, well kept, and they also have showers.
Its a nice campground. My only complaints are ...
The trash lot where all the old junked out campers and other assorted trash sits. Its not something i really want to stare at while on vacation.
Also there doesnt seem to be a rule about noise control after a certain time. Im all for a good time, but after @2am stereos should get turned down. There are a lot of kids here.
Spent 4 months there last summer and had a great time. Friendly people and the staff were super. Easy access to the river. Clean bathrooms and laundry.
