Honeysuckle Campground, located at the confluence of Deception Creek and the North Fork of the Coeur d'Alene River, is 22 miles from Coeur d'Alene. It was renovated in 1994 and has seven campsites including a host site. Campground roads and campsite parking spurs are paved. Amenities include potable well water with a hand pump and vault toilets. Minimum operating season is Memorial Day through Labor Day.
From Coeur d'Alene, take Fernan Lake Road 268 for 11 miles, then Forest Road 612 for 11 miles to the campground.
Being that it was Memorial Day weekend, the campground was nearly empty! Right by a beautiful creek set into the forest. There was no
camp host, and one of the bathrooms was closed off with caution tape for repairs. The second bathroom looked padlocked. The fee board at entrance said $21/night. Overall a nice quiet spot to camp. Slip sizes were all pretty long and paved.
Pros: Beautiful campground with lush vegetation and mature cedar trees which helps create plenty of shade. The campround sits next to a beautiful, shallow creek.
Cons: Nightly camp-fee is steep at $24/night. Located near a busy, dirt road with frequent dirt bike, four wheelers, and side-by-sides passing by so it gets noisy. No campground host at the time of our visit and unfortunately people take advantage by leaving behind garbage like used water bottles, apple cores, and watermelon rhines. The grossest of all was finding used toilet tissues laying around our campsite.
Such a beautiful campground. Clear waters nearby, and beautiful simple mountains. A wonderful retreat.
Don't think honeysuckle campground is actually open, but there is lots of dispersed camping in the area.
Pretty good spot but be sure to lock your stuff up. I had several items stolen from my campsite
