Fantastic hike, phenomenal views, and amazing memories! It's not a super long hike, but once you get to the lake the views are breathtaking. This is also a great place to start a backpacking trip into the beautiful White Cloud Mountains. Definitely would recommend if you are in the Stanley area and want to get away from the business of Redfish Lake, but still want good views. There are fish, but they aren't the easiest to catch, and if catching is what you want to be doing, then going farther in to the mountains on a multi day backpacking trip is what you would want to do.

Great area for viewing wildlife in the spring (black bear, pronghorn, elk). As a wildlife photographer, the drive down the National Forest road is worth the views alone. Will definitely revisit this area in the future.

Great single track trail. Very technical riding. If you hate rocks then avoid. If you dont mind rocks then this is a good trail.

The hike up to Fourth of July Lake is so beautiful. The trail is well used and wide. It's a steady uphill climb but not too steep. There are two spots where the trail crosses a stream but large rocks make for an easy way over. Once you make it to the lake, you have beautiful views of Castle Peak and other sawtooth mountains. Great for a day hike and a good starting point for Backcountry backpacking

Went with a church group for an overnighter. Trail was great and maintained. When we got to Fourth of July lake we found that there are 3 main camping spots. They are kind of set up like a triangle around the lake.

Easy enough trail you could bring older kids and enjoy fishing and a good campsite if you get lucky!

Lots of traffic with day hikers.

Beautiful views!
