Located along the Lochsa River and accessed by U.S. Highway 12, Apgar lies between the highway and on a river terrace filled with giant western red cedar and fir trees. Apgar is a quiet, rustic campground with aggregate surfaced roads, vault toilets, tables, and campfire rings. The Campground will accomodate 24-ft. RV's.
This is a small state park, next to the Lachsa (?spelling) river. Great water access, most spots are shaded. Fresh water available, toilets available and dumpster available from mid May till September. Picnic tables and fire rings with BBQ at every spot, great tent camping and smaller RVs, under 25 ft, or turning becomes a problem.
Watch out for the bat's hanging above bathroom doors at night😂 absolutely loved our time and it was so beautiful.
Well spoken about with accurate results in the other 5 stars. Vault toilets were unusually low odor and clean and well kept. Almost exactly half way for us and our Montana friend from Missoula. Perfect meeting place and we'll return year after year if it continues to be so well maintained.
Inside hint. There's a saddle rock just out from the beach that an adult can sit on in the river, chest high in August and comfortably not get swept downstream. My favorite wilderness soaking-in place of the whole campground.
