Thought it was a great value. Just needed a place to crash for the night. Beds are comfortable. The room was hot when we got there, but cooled down real quick with the AC. If I'm in the area again, I'd happily stay here.
We tried to stay here a second night after a long day fishing. We arrived put money in the box like we did the night before as we were told todo . Went to go set up camp and was immediately yelled at by the wife of the owner. She was very rude and on edge that we didn’t read the sign to check in and that we didn’t have bikes as-well as making rude comments about this isn’t a place to party. Assuming we were the partying type since we were young men. As stated in other reviews the dogs will keep you up then any of the campers.
Either way she quickly handed our money back to us with an attitude and we went on to stay at Cherohala campground 10 minutes down the road. Cheaper nicer place with nice folks, free firewood, showers, and even breakfast in the morning. With no loud dogs to keep you up at night as well. The folks at Cherohala are glad to run a campground in a beautiful place with the Smitty’s lounge is looking to cash in on your dime!
This place is a gem! Located just outside of town and close to the western end of the Cherohala Skyway, stores, restaurants and gas. Everything a motorcycle enthusiast needs is here. Clean A/C/Heated cabins (with refrig and microwave) and tent camping sites with picnic tables and fire rings. Firewood is available onsite. There is a tire changer, lift and vise for repairs, covered tables, bagged ice, clean bathrooms with showers (and hot water!). Coffee and tea, vending, microwave oven, full laundry with a boot/leather dryer. Wendell, Daphne and their silent partner, Cheddar, have thought of everything that you need for an enjoyable getaway and were very accommodating!
Great location, good prices, has just about everything you need when on motorcycle trips. Wendell, the owner, is a nice guy and even remembered my name after it had been a minute since my last trip there. You can catch a beautiful sunset in front of the grounds.
7 of us stayed here on 10-5-23. This is a very nice place with very nice staff. Showers and bathroom are clean and they provide you with towels. This was my 2nd time here and I will be back. Thank you to the staff, you guys are GREAT.
