Looks like the only thing that will stop the wind is a barb wire fence in North Dakota LOL. I do say it's a beautiful lake ❤️ 😍
We enjoyed our stay here. It was quiet and overlooks the lake. The bathrooms were clean as was the Campground.
I was recently involved in a wedding out at Horsethief, few things we experienced and I’m highly disappointed. We were told an area had been blocked to book to take out campers. When I called to book they were no longer held and it was a first come first serve basis. Okay no problem we made that work. But the most disturbing thing is that we spent hours cleaning the venue sweeping, mopping, washing everything head to toe and I found out through my family that they were told we left it filthy, a mess and are not given any deposit back. I’m just so incredibly disappointed, we had so much fun and were talking about booking 3 events there next year, clearly not going to happen if we will be accused of leaving things a mess and them taking advantage of people.
Pro-The location certainly is the epitome of an oasis. Beautiful spot.
Con-The campground was a little rough around the edges. Our site was rutted and getting level was a challenge. The men's bathroom had only one functional toilet with no paper towels. The showers were less than clean and the fixtures rusty w heavy scale. A water quality notice was posted on the bathroom door.
I don't consider any of these to be show-stoppers and all except the water quality should be reasonably easy to remedy. I would return if in the area again.
This is a terrific location and this campground serves a wide catchment area.
We stayed here four days in an RV site. Were celebrating a graduation with our kids and grandkids that weekend. The lodge is roomy and well kept for events. We had a great view and it was clean, quiet for the most part and peaceful park. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
