The Sugi Grove campsite is located approximately 3/4 mile past the boundary into the Na Pali-Kona Forest Reserve along the Mohihi-Camp 10 Road. This shady campground which sits above the bank of the Kawaikoi Stream is located within an old Sugi pine plantation and is equipped with a picnic shelter and composting toilet. You may access the campsite on foot or, under good conditions, in a 4WD vehicle.
Access from Mohihi-Camp 10 Road, which starts 100 yards past Kokee State Park headquarters along Highway 550. Unpaved road - 4WD access only.
4x4 only road, get a permit if you want to camp. Good spot for a hammock, Great experience. 💯
It‘s a horrible road to get there (definitely 4W Drive only) and about 50m before arriving after a 5km super bumby and slippery ride there was a huge water stream that we couldn’t pass. So no chance of getting to the campground in the rainy season.
Beautiful and unique in the area. Worth having to plan ahead to visit for the experience camping there and hiking nearby. Need a 4x4 for sure if rain is in the forecast or recent. Bring hammocks and rain flys!
