There are no facilities at the Gregory Beach area. Pack In, Pack Out.
Located adjacent to Gregory Beach dispersed area along the Upper Sacramento River Arm of Shasta Lake. 15 miles northeast of I-5 on Gilman Road. From I-5, take exit 698 Salt Creek/Gilman Road. Turn left at end of off ramp and follow Salt Creek Road (also known as Gregory Creek Road) for 4 miles.
we camped there on spur of the moment. great spot.
the lake was in drought last time.
- Free dispersed camping on the shoreline. No facilities (aka pack in/out).
- Beautiful & quiet despite being relatively close to the highway.
- The road you take to get there is flanked on either side by burned land with remnants of old neighborhoods. Fires (even propane campstoves!) require permits.
This spot was a surprise find, not the original desination......but soooooo turned out better! The water was a perfect temp for the day and it was secluded enough that we felt we were the only ones there.
Drought has been tough for locals and industry. With a 4x4 I was able to get all the way down to water, very peaceful until a Lakehead local herassed me for taking their spot.
