The white tree is a sure sign you are on the right track.
Phenomenal section of the Appalachians and the AT. A good day hike stating from the TN-NC border and a great place along the AT for a longer trip, no matter the season. Parking at the trailhead may be scarce during the weekend, especially during summer and early fall, but that's to be expected almost anywhere in the Appalachians.
this is one of my favorite new trails that I’ve ever been on! One of the most beautiful as well! It is so beautiful the whole way up to Grassy Ridge. It reminds me of parts of Colorado. It is definitely worth coming here. Also there is cell service along the trail if you are going solo and there are restrooms at the trailhead! It is a pretty moderate to difficult hike if you are inexperienced. I was having a tough time with some of the incline towards the end. I want to come back and do the hike at sunrise!
