From jct I-405 & I-710: Go 3-3/4 mi S on I-710, then 1/4 mi S on Golden Shore.
We’re still here!!!! I took a job in LA and arrived without notice on Dec 2. We got a reservation at an RV Park closer to my work; it was in an unsafe area and it turned out to be nothing like the pictures and gives new meaning to the term “sardine can”. I drove away, fearful for my safety, and called Golden Shores at 6pm on a Saturday night, while driving aimlessly through the city! They took us in at last minute and saved us!!! It is two weeks later, and we have had some close calls with availability but so far they have been able to help us! We are hoping for one more cancellation over new years!! The park is clean, spacious sites for an RV park, lovely hot tub and very clean pool. The dog park is small and AstroTurf, (since nobody uses the fire pit I think that area would make an awesome dog park!) but if you don’t like that, you literally walk out the front gate and you are on the grounds of CA State University which is a great place to walk with or without your dog! And everyone cleans up pet waste so it is very clean. We have used their little store a few times for necessities. And close to all kinds of stores and restaurants in Long Beach! And a great dog beach about a ten min drive away (google Rosie’s dog beach)… I can’t say enough about the friendliness of the employees. And they recycle (thank you!) I can’t say enough good about this park. If they didn’t have a two week max in the summer we would stay here all year!
This place is HORRIBLE!!! DO NOT BRING YOUR FAMILY HERE!! Front office staff is so RUDE and VINDICTIVE!! There are homeless people that live right outside of the property. We have witnessed multiple liquor bottles left around pool area for multiple days. Does NOT feel safe!! Constant noise due to the interstate right next to you, ships coming and going at all times and constant low flying air traffic. Just don't waste your time or money!!
RESPONSE TO MANAGEMENTS COMMENT: We had requested to stay 1 additional night ONLY because our tow vehicle is in the shop for unexpected service and it is taking longer than expected so we are at the mercy of the shop. We called down to the front office to request an additional night ONLY because we don't know if the truck will be complete. We were NOT offered to stay at our site nor were we offered an additional site, only told we would have to move. WE CANT MOVE WITHOUT A TOW VEHICLE! The front office then called us back in an antagonistic manor to inform us that they just sold the last spot that was not offered to us and we were out of luck regardless. We requested a 1 hour late check out just in case and they denied that as well! Just a quick piece of advice to the front office....kindness and understanding goes a long way. It's called customer service! Not once were we disrespectful and we understand there was never a guaranteed spot open but to call us back ONLY to be rude is NOT ok and VERY BAD BUSINESS! Before booking this swamp, make sure to read the other bad reviews as there seems to be a pattern of rude behaviors from the owners of the property.
Golden Shore RV Resort is a great small campground!!!
It’s clean, the personnel are friendly and helpful. You are within walking distance to the Catalina boat terminal, Aquarium of the Pacific and a few restaurants of Long Beach!
I’ve been camping at Golden Shores RV Resort since the mid 90’s!
The reasons above is why I keep coming back with my friends and family! My advice is to take a visit!
We stay here whenever we visit our son in our rig. Fantastic bike path that goes for miles along the beach and waterfront. Along the way you can stop to eat and shop. The park itself has fantastic amenities.
The people that gave this place great ratings apparently have nothing to compare it to. We stayed for a month which felt much longer last year. To get into the place you need to get out of your car in pouring down rain to put in the combo and then wait for the gate to open. Being on the passenger side makes absolutely NO sense. But it is secure. The laundry room was clean but there’s no possible way you can park close to it. You still have a very long walk carrying heavy laundry bags or baskets of clothes, detergent etc. Not well planned out. It also wasn’t cheap. Unfortunately it rained constantly while we were there which I realize was not their fault. The site we had was up against the fence just as you go into the gate on bay side. The bay smelled terribly, it was covered with cans, detergent bottles…trash and very unsightly. My kitchen window overlooked the view! Our site was nothing but a pond the entire time. It’s all sand no dirt and even the dog park is sand. Our camper looked like a sandbox inside with all the sand tracked inside. You couldn’t walk out our door without wading in a pool of water. At one point our outside mat was floating and like that the entire time. Not all sites were like ours so I guess we were just lucky. The noise from the bike track was terrible which was directly behind us Loud bikes, music, at all hours. The freeway sound was nothing in comparison. Would not recommend or ever consider staying there again.
