Naval Support Activity Panama City is located on beautiful St. Andrew Bay in Panama City Beach, Florida. It has direct, deep-water access to the Gulf of Mexico. Panama City Beach provides a perfect location and environment for conducting year-round training, testing, and research.
With 27-miles of beaches, two state parks, miles of hiking and biking trails, and 100 public beach access points, there’s a lot to see and do in Panama City Beach. As you explore, you’ll find that each area has its unique flavor and character.
From US 98 after crossing over the Hathaway Bridge as you travel West, turn south onto Thomas Drive. At Crag Road light intersection turn onto the base at the main entrance. Stop at the Visitor/Information Center on the right to obtain a pass for your vehicle prior to proceeding to gate entrance. After showing your ID at the main gate, proceed around the curve and go to the blinking stop sign. Turn left and follow the road until you come to the marina entrance. You will need to check in at the marina for either campground.
Love Mainside campground! Seeing the deer around is so cool. Love the Mainside bar& grill. Plus the beach, picnic area is so great. We stayed 6 weeks, because the Rv park is so nice albeit each camper is close to each other the park like setting & ocean access is amazing. Plus shopping is close. Minus in our mind are the camp hosts, that all we've seen them do is pick up pine cones on the roads between the camper rows. My opinion find new, younger camp hosts cuz it seems they really don't do anything!
Very quiet RV park despite being nestled right between Panama City and Panama City Beach. Very close to the beaches, shopping, restaurants, and St. Andrews State Park. Pets are allowed and there is a fenced in dog park. Reservations are made through MWR at the Marina on base, open to ID card holders only.
South side - bathrooms need an upgrade. There is ONE toilet in the men’s room to accommodate the 19 spots. Waited 30 mins one morning before driving down the street to a gas station. Because the toilet bowl fills in the front, the back of the bowl is always marked with memories from prior users.
There is also only one shower, a urinal, and three sinks. Why so many sinks?? Probably because there is a lot of space here and they are cheaper that toilets. The mirrors for two of them are at a great height if you are less than 5’ tall. Also the changing room for the shower is bigger than my camper. A little common sense would go a long way.
If bathrooms were more useful, I’d give it 5 stars.
