I have been on several trips down the Illinois River. This was the worst experience I've had. We booked the largest accomodations they have for 2 nights. The staff is rude and disorganized. My group waited over 3 hours for one of their 3 buses to take us up river. We booked the full all day trip and were only given the half day. With no refund on what we paid for the longer trip.
My husband and I have come here for years and we were nervous to come this year bc of the recent reviews. But I have to say, it was just as great as it's been every year. We reserved an electric campsite for Friday and Saturday night, months ago. We arrived Friday at noon and the check was very easy. They had my reservation ready. They did mention the bus doesn't pickup at the sites like previous years which is a bummer but they told us to arrive at the office early, they open at 8am. We arrived to the site and immediately noticed they have been working on the sites (late night sites) and they now have water!! Huge plus!!! The bathrooms were clean. Yes there were bugs in the showers but its not bad, considering we are camping outdoors! We packed up the car on Saturday morning, checked in at 8:49am and they had us on a bus and on the river by 9:30am!!! Seriously the best experience!! They get extremely busy on the weekends and the groups can be huge, be patient and have your groups organized. It will help them and you!! Keep up the good work, Eagle Bluff. We will return.
It was extremely busy, and I feel like they overbooked themselves. We got to the place at 8 and didn't get on a bus till 12:30. When I asked a staff member why it was taking so long, she replied by saying I dnt know. I just work here. They are extremely unorganized they kept putting new clip boards on old ones so people that were first kept getting pushed to the bottom, and people who just showed up were getting to go first. My husband talked to one of the bus drivers since the staff in side were no help. The bus drivers were the only ones willing to help my group of 9. The bathrooms are big but were not well kept, broken toilet seats, and not flushing and some overflowing. You could smell them outside while waiting, and it was not a pleasant smell. Spent more time waiting to get on the bus then on river. The bus drivers were the only good part about this place.
So I thought the new ownership was going to make this place better. Went here this weekend and they now have a cooler size limit. My cooler is average size and actually floats better than their rafts. They made us empty our stuff into trash bags because they wouldn’t let us on the bus with the cooler. We’ve been going multiple times this summer with this cooler but now it’s a problem. I guess they expect you to bring just a lunch pale. Done going here to float. You all don’t even sell coolers in your shop. So stupid. Going somewhere else next time.
Under NEW management - AUGUST 31, 2023
Paid $70 for a raft with a hole in the bottom that ruined my phone and speaker.
After walking to the office at 7pm to look for the $40 firewood they charged my credit card and never delivered, the owner called 911 knowing that I rafted with them, and then claimed we were trespassing on his property.
The police left after saying we weren't trespassing, and told him we were allowed to drink alcohol on the river and at the campground. The owner then drove by our campground every 2 hours for the rest of the night and early morning until we packed up and left at 7am. The owner is watching you and threatens DUI charges on paying customers that stay on private property.
This is why no one is camping here any longer. The "late night campground" is 100% empty for a reason.
Creepy and weird.
Update: You're not being honest. No one was drinking and driving and you refused to speak English to me. You did drive by every two hours all night long and you apparently have anger issues.
