This recreation area is part of Cooper Lake
Drive through sites, level and clean. No full hookups tho. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. We did not use the swimming area here, it was low due to the drought, and thus, closed. But that is not the fault of the state park.
A quaint, quiet little park. My favorite aspect: the kind park rangers! Also, the cabin we stayed in was a nice size and clean. The only downsides to our experience are that being so close to the water while it was a windy weekend made it much colder than anticipated, the trails were mostly bogged out, there wasn’t much to look at aside from the beautiful lake, and the bathroom stall in the women’s restroom has an opening where you can easily see through to the toilet on the other side of the stall if you lift the feminine disposal lid. Perhaps we should come back in warmer months for a better experience! :)
The park needs to be cleaner,the restroom,had spider webs inside and out, everybody saying the restrooms are clean,they are wrong.
The campground our picnic table had ants living in it and our pad was infested with fire ants that was biting my dog.
Ray Roberts isle du bois is way better, cleaner,longer concrete pads,more friendlier folks too...
Won't b camping at Cooper lake in the future....
We’ve stayed here twice and have really enjoyed it both times. The RV sites are nice concrete pads and easy to back into. The trails are enjoyable. We participated in a stargazing night with Ranger Alicia and it was a wonderful learning experience and very cool to see 4 of Jupiters moons! There was very little light pollution making star gazing spectacular!
