Custer Mountain Cabins and Campground is conveniently located in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota 1.5 miles east of the City of Custer and 2 miles west of Custer State Park on Highway 16A.
RV sites with full hook-ups are carved out of the Ponderosa pine forest and well shaded.
Tent sites range from those being very close to the shower and laundry facilities and some being in remote wilderness sites.
Rough-hewn log cabins sleep from 4 people to 14 people. There is a cabin for almost any group size and price range. All kitchen utensils and linens are provided with the exception of the camper cabins.

I enjoyed the stay. The only thing I did not like, the trees were so tall and close together that we were unable to get our satellite to tune in! Plenty of firewood and ice! Decently priced, friendly service!
We actually changed our travel plans TWICE to come spend more time here! Nice roomy tent spaces. Bathhouse is roomy and clean with lots of hot water. Staff is gracious, accommodating, and helpful! We HIGHLY recommend! Amazing view in the mountains/Black Hills.
We arrived late in the afternoon, having experienced problems with our reservation elsewhere. Custer Mountain had a spot for us available, for all 4 nights we had hoped for. The location is great, located between the town of Custer and the western entrance to Custer State Park. Very convenient! The price was reasonable for a full-hookups site (we were told all sites are full hook-ups). The staff was friendly and helpful. One thing nice and different from most campgrounds - they picked up trash every morning around 9AM if you left it out. And one important thing for us - it was quiet! A little highway noise, but no rowdy campers. We really enjoyed our stay, would recommend it to others, and will stay here again when we next return to the Black Hills.
Well, after an email and several phone calls, I was finally able to reach someone at the campground. They never called or tried to contact me back I had to chase them. I was looking for eight full hook up RV spots, and some cabins generating over $1000 of revenue for the campground. The gentleman I spoke to (owner) was unwilling to work with me and our group to accommodate us, stating that he needed multiple days of stay. For a business of hospitality, there was no hospitality. I would steer clear of this place and find someplace that really wants your business.
