Due to some river damage, the camp ground is closed but you can use the group camping area across the road. Beautiful area; hiking, horseback riding, and fishing are easily accessible. Try the Grizzly Lake Trail which Teton Back Country Horsemen of America just packed in and built a bridge over a boggie area!!
Off the busy main roads in the NPS. There is a small camping area up here in the NFS. Great place little crowd. Plan for bear as this is bear country. So be hygienic and leave the clothes you grilled those stakes locked in the car. But a great detour and place to spend the night. Happy camping.
Beautiful area. But extremely packed! So so so busy! It took us hours to find a campsite, also the roads were pretty rough getting out there, tons of bad potholes. Ranger is pretty serious about kicking people out that aren't at an actual campsite.
If you are looking for that spot where no one else is. This is the place to stay for a few days. I stayed in spot #2 50ft from the stream. Had a few people fishing in the stream but they didn't stay long. It is a long drive into Jackson about an hour or so.
The road could be better. But the views are worth the drive. The well works but it takes a very long time to get primed and to pump water. Some very nice day trip trails. A good way to start before going to the Tetons.
The camp ground was hit by a major storm which toppled all the trees and has been shut down. There is a temporary camp site on the opposite side of the road in a cow pasture; just fire pits, benches and a pit toilet in a small lawn often filled with cattle. You can still camp dispersed in the original camp but it’s not a pretty sight
