Neat little spot to visit and the water is so amazingly fresh and clean. I'm not sure if we even found the right spot we just walked from the parking a very short distance to the left and got in. Only saw a few pretty common fish so not as much as we expected, but there may be some better spots further in the opposite direction. The trail that way is fun to walk on and we saw some neat wildlife, spiders and mushrooms 🍄 😀
Really nice trail, we didn't get to explore all of it since we didn't want to cross the river in the middle of December. The dogs enjoyed it, all the different smells and paths. I would recommend some good hiking shoes and a suv AWD or 4x4 to get to this spot.
Bring a wetsuit if cold natured- Water is cool. Beautiful river, not many other people on a late Thursday and Friday mid August. Supposed to have more variety of fish than anywhere else in USA- I mainly saw minnows but still the clear water is such a trip!
Can also catch Jacks River trail just a bit further down the hill, just past bridge on Right.
Rough drive in but worth it. Beautiful place for snorkeling and exploring the ecosystem. Saw several varieties of fish. On Labor Day it was a little too crowded to see as well as I’d have liked but it was a hot day and the water was great! The facilities are not well maintained as every garbage can was running over and the toilet smelled to bad to go in. But nature is the star here and it is beautiful.
