From town: Go 12 mi S on Hwy-39, then 5 mi E on CR-Y (Arcola).
We went here to tent camp one night and rented a pontoon to relax on the lake. Campsites were nothing fancy but had good water views. Pontoon was very nice!!
When booked, I was told that we could only stay in certain areas which was in the East campground. We have never been there before so we were ok with that. Once we got there and went to our campsite, it was horrible! It was rocks with irregular spaces trees that have not been trimmed. Branches growing waist level on up. There were 2 dead trees in the middle of the campground that were full and infested with ants. There was not a designated fire pit. We could tell there was a fire there however there was not a fire pit. There was also not a grill to cook on. This site was infested with bugs. Within 15 minutes on arrival and things were set up, we found a tick that was in the campsite and we were not in the woods. We have been camping before and have never stayed at a place like this and have stayed at way better places than this one for less money. I do not recommend camping here. It was a horrible experience. Also, this place is geared more towards permanent or seasonal RV campers.
I've always loved coming here. My fiance and his daughter had never been and she'd never been camping period. We all had a blast and her first trip plans to turn into many more at mutton creek camp!
Been camping here for over 20+ years (since around 2002), the staff is wonderful, especially Josie! Already looking forward to next (2023) season and beyond!!!
The camp ground where a friend of mine took me. Made me feel like I was homeless. Don't ever want to camp out like that again. 😒. Flies , ants spiders every where. But at the Marina, the little store, the people are wonderful. And it's a good place to camp if you have all the right equipment. And the right company. It is a beautiful place 😍 ❤️.
