Located 50 minutes from downtown St. Louis off Highway 67. 3.5 miles north of historic Bonne Terre Missouri.
A warning to families with little kids. This place doesn't have a playground for them to play on and nothing much at all to keep them busy in general. The feel of the area isn't appealing either, reasons being that there is trash on the ground and the individual campsites are quite close. Also, picnic benches are placed right in the view of your neighbors sewer line. As of now there is no restroom on site. For $44 a night, it is not worth it.
Nice campground in Bonne Terre, just south of Festus, MO. We have stayed here twice now. Owners are so nice and friendly, we have not met them, but reserved a couple nights over the phone. We pulled in late, around 9 pm. Used flashlights but had no trouble at all. Pull thru with full hook ups. We attended the Mead Festival in Festus so this was the perfect set up for the weekend.
I hate to sound discouraging. So this is just a heads up. My husband's company stayed here for five month's, this year. This campground is very simple. If you like simple, this place is for you. We have small children, however. There is no playground or area at all for kids. A single, washer and dryer is in a poorly lit room. I called the office my first trip out there, to ask where the laundry room was as I facing the front of one of the buildings. The rip on the phone replied with "in the room where the sign says laundry." Nice. Heads up it is not visible from the front. The entrance is on the side near the exit of the camp. I am a VERY light sleeper. The campground is right on a double-lane highway. We were placed where there are no trees or shrub screen to block the sound of 70 mph traffic. I didn't sleep a wink the first time I visited out there. Take earplugs! The site is about 20 minutes from everything, so that was nice. The site is also near several nice state parks.
If you are considering seeing the Christmas lights, think again! It was $20 for a huge disappointment. There’s no theme…they had beach stuff at one point, Fourth of July stuff near Santa, the Twelve Days of Christmas stuff… it was like lights just threw up all over the place. It was random and not appealing to my eyes. The road was not in good condition and it was very hard to see where I was supposed to drive because the path was poorly marked at parts of the drive. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! Terrible display.
My family was traveling and needed a RV park to stay the night. I called and book the site for them. The lady I spoke with was amazing and so helpful. After my SIL became very Ill on the way there, my daughter had to pull the camper the remaining way for the first time ever. When they were do to arrive, there was a bad storm and it was after dark. Ron, not sure if he was the owner or attendant, met them at the turn off off the hwy and led her in to the park and to their spot. They went above and beyond to make sure they made it with less stress! I can not thank them enough for taking care of my family in a very stressful situation. My daughter loved the park and said they will definitely be back to enjoy it.
