From I-70, take Highway 177 south for 30 miles. Turn west across Dam Road, then turn right on to City Lake Road and continue for 2 miles. Campground entrance road is on the right.
Very nice site. $9.50 a night. Better than National parks and forests. Great staff.
This was a nice out of the way place to setup. We were on a walk up site (5) for the week. It was windy a few days and there were lots of mayflies but nothing really irritating. The mayflies made for great fishing off the back of your site. Camp host was very nice and helpful in finding out what was available and when things would open up. Our site was out of the way with not a lot of traffic and very quiet. The lake is a corp lake and not a lot of boat traffic. The site was fairly level with a tilt towards the water. There are some really nice sites fully shaded that can be reserved as well.
Very beautiful and peaceful place to camp. Wish we could have stayed a couple of days!
This is by far one of the best lakes I have visited. I would call it a little hidden Gem. Very quiet scenery is beautiful, not a very big lake in comparison. We rented a pontoon boat and just cruised around the lake. Had an amazing time with family and friends. I would definitely recommend this lake. The people at the marina were amazing, very friendly and helpful. Sloan and Kaylee were awesome very kind and personable. Never mer them before, but they treated us like we have coming here for decades. Had breakfast with an awesome guy who does so much for the surrounding communities I believe his name was Phil Taunton KVOE radio.
Great lake and camping . Council Grove is an interesting town. I love the flint hills bike trail and city pool !
