About Campground

The Chinle Trail starts from the Anasazi Way sub-division and crosses the open desert as it winds toward the base of Mount Kinesava. The trail travels through the open desert and offers up some amazing and sweeping views of the cliffs behind great formations like the West Temple and Mount Kinesava. The trail crosses areas of petrified wood and has highly developed areas of cryptobiotic soil. This trail is very hot in the summer but pleasant in the spring and fall. Coalpits Wash has no developed trail, but there is a well beaten path that is easy to follow to the junction with Scoggins Wash. At the junction of Scoggins Wash, bear left and head up the canyon between enormous boulders and small waterfalls. This trail is best from the fall to the spring due to its low elevation. Summer can get very hot and dry, making the summer months a difficult time to visit. Camping is permitted in designated sites only. Wilderness Permits are available online for reservable campsites and at the Wilderness Desk for first come, first serve campsites.

Absolutely amazing!

We visited in late December and the lines were very long for the shuttle. So I can only guess how packed this park would be in the summer!!! We had to wait for several shuttles to stop by before there was room for us! And the shuttles were running every few minutes!

We explored many different areas of the canyon and surrounding area. I wish I had enough time and planned for the Narrows. But hopefully next time!

The shuttles do not run in Jan to March. I would like to visit then guessing the crowds are minimal!

Even if you just stop for a few hours, you will be amazed! You do not have to travel very far to see the phenomenal views!

Wow, the most beautiful national park I think America has to offer. Every hike we did was amazing. The bus system is nice. we found it nice to stop at our hikes. On our way in then, at the end of the day, take 1 long ride all the way back to town. Really, no words can describe the awesomeness of this place

No words to describe. Small National Park with stunning views at every location. Many hikes turns out to give the best view here. Visiting mid feb and crowd turned out to be huge. I recommend to enter early in the park between 8-10 am. Also nearby towns have amazing cabins and bungalows to stay at budget prices.

Second visit, first time was years ago, but knew we wanted to visit again and spend more time. We did and thoroughly enjoyed it. Definitely a bucket list. Place people who enjoy beautiful scenery and being able to do some hiking if they like.

Absolutely the best National Park to visit for me. Such soul shaking beauty everywhere you go. I understand why millions come here to Zion. Even with the large crowds, you still can find peace. So much area to explore. All the Zion staff are very friendly as they work hard to try to please the millions. Love the many blended structures that don't obstruct the pristine views. It adds to the natural feel of this stunning park.

Parking is tough to find, though. Shuttle transportation throughout the park is great, however, during the very busy months, it can take ages to hitch a ride. If you come prepared for the crowds at Zion, things will go much smoother. I found that the end of March was less crowded and the weather is warm enough to enjoy walking the many trails. So much more to say about this paradise, but one has to experience it for themselves.

Highly recommend a visit to Zion National Park.
