I was on my way to Zion National Park and wanted to check out Glen Canyon Dam, but I did not have a lot of time.
This overlook was perfect. It was free (Horseshoe Bend overlook was $10).
The walk down to the overlook is a bit tricky. Sometimes you are walking on steps and other times uneven sandstone.
But the view is fantastic. You can do some exploring off the path... but just be prepared for the height you are above the river! There are some really good views of the dam and the canyon if you venture around to the other side of the rocks!
Fantastic National Park! You can spend an hour or several days!
This park is not on the beaten path, so if you want to escape the thousands of visitors and crowded shuttles and long lines, come here!
We took a detour from Bryce and really enjoyed the space!
Very beautiful park. And many of the scenic spots can easily be seen from the road or a short hike.
We spent most of the day here and felt like we saw most of the park.
I would have liked to have seen the farm house, but it was closed for the winter.
The campground really looked great! Too bad we were not camping!

Absolutely amazing!
We visited in late December and the lines were very long for the shuttle. So I can only guess how packed this park would be in the summer!!! We had to wait for several shuttles to stop by before there was room for us! And the shuttles were running every few minutes!
We explored many different areas of the canyon and surrounding area. I wish I had enough time and planned for the Narrows. But hopefully next time!
The shuttles do not run in Jan to March. I would like to visit then guessing the crowds are minimal!
Even if you just stop for a few hours, you will be amazed! You do not have to travel very far to see the phenomenal views!
