Nice quiet park with a fishing pond. There were many people fishing and I saw some actually catching fish, too :)
So the campground itself is calm, the traffic does make it loud but you can kinda block that out. The camp host Dan is great. The upper management from the city of Monmouth tho, not so great. If it wasn’t for Dan I would have left 1 star. Originally they said people could stay thru the winter…. Now they had a “board meeting” and I have til the 31st to move. Some of these people have NOPLACE to go. Way to go city of Monmouth.
Nice campground, very well kept, and lake to fish in and kayak on. Prices are reasonable for full hookups. You can stay for a night or two or however long and they also have monthly rates.
It's loud. It was very, very loud as the semis travel up and down this highway only several yards away. And be mindful of the stink bugs. Those nasty things will find a way into your rv, and you will be dealing with them for days after you leave the park. However, the price is fair for full hook-ups, and the manager, Dan, is a very nice and helpful man.
We used a tent ground spot, grass (limited tent space/parked vehicle 30' away (see the picture, our tent shows in bottom right corner & our little black car to the far left)). $10 for night, with electric (40'+ extension cord needed) About 40x40 yards of mowed tent camping space available. First come, first serve, no assigned spaces. One charcoal grill & two fire pits in tent area. Had two other tent families nearby, about 10 yards away each (so limited privacy). The more tent campers, the less space to spread out (see photos of tent area). Campgrounds are right off a highway which means vehicles, semis & multiple trains thru night. Light sleepers or campers looking for ONLY sounds of nature will not like this.
Lake boardwalk with plenty of cleared ground to access fishing all the way around lake & stocked with fish regularly (see fishing regulations photo).
RV, Auto & pop-up concrete spaces available which will accommodate large RV's. Power & water hook up at each lot, price unknown. (limited spaces, unsure of sewage hook up. I did not visit the area but I included photos).
Dan (grounds manager) brought a wooden park picnic table to our space, by request. Also he loaned me an extra extension cord, as I was over 20 ft. short. All in all a great stay for the money. Stayed rested & clean, felt safe & comfortable. Not Five Star rated only because I've visited nicer, non-primitive campgrounds.
