Part of the Douglas Ranger District.
It's absolutely gorgeous. Absolutely worth a day trip if you are staying in the Tucson area
I visited the Chiricahua's in January of '08. It was one of the funnest and prettiest stops on our trip. We tent camped in one of the campgrounds and hiked all over the place. I still think about it regularly and hope to come visit again but this time with my husband and children.
This place is gorgeous. We entered through the New Mexico side- back into Arizona at the east entrance. We arrived with fantastic weather in the middle of March. We woke up to a winter wonderland. Thunder snow storms! Arizona is amazing. Seemingly endless roads to travel and explore. Easy camp sites that were clean. The ranger station was nice. The ranger was very informative and really knows his birds!
This place rocks! Take a hike, walk or stroll through the rocks! Make sure you fill up on gas- no services near the park. Weird campground situation where the campground was “full” but there were tons of empty sites (nearly half the campground) some funny business going on there.
