Welcome to Camp Run-A-Muck Campground and RV Park located in the almost ghost town of Hyder Alaska. Camp Run-A-Muck RV Park in Hyder Alaska is the only full service campground in Hyder AK.
Both Stewart BC and Hyder Alaska see a pretty steady flow of tourists from mid-July through early September when large numbers of Alaska's wild salmon return to the creeks to spawn. With the glowing reputation of the bear viewing area operated by the U.S. Forest Service at Fish Creek, Hyder's popularity has been on the rise.

Only 1 bathroom and 1 shower for men and 1 each for women which is simply not sufficient for a campground of this size. As a tent camper on a bare site i was warned not to use water... thats a first. Glad i already had 2L of water on my bike.
Now for the good.. the location. Close to everything including the seafood bus which is a must visit. The sites in the trees offer some separation and grass "parking lot" sites are easy pull through for the larger RVs.
It's open, even if it looks like it's not, just set up and a lady named Michelle will come around. You can ask about her at the bar. If you have driven all the way to Hyder you might as well stay here. There are full hookups even though everything is a bit rough. Also you may have the whole place to yourself because no one thinks it's a functioning campground!
It's unbelievable that this place is still in operation. Both water and electric power is spotty at best. The owner is clueless in the operations of the campground and does the bare minimal to maintain the campgrounds. Last year you never knew if the campground was open or closed. Black bears run thru the campgrounds and tent camping is not recommended. If you're smart you will stay at one of the two campgrounds on the Canadian side of the boarder.
The lady in charge was really nice, she gave us mandarin oranges and gave us good information about things to do in town. All spots have water and electric and are fairly good sized, it is not usually very full so you will have plenty of space besides your own spot. We did not have a reservation and we were able to stay with no problem.
They also have WiFi powered by SpaceX Starlink internet, which comes in very handy since there is no cell phone service in town.
Hands down the best campground in the area, way better than the one we stayed at the night before on the Canadian side.
It is an rv campground, not a motel. This is buy the river, in Hyder. Beware of brown bears, they'll occasionally get near the roads. We stopped here in early September. It was completely empty. Tourists were all gone!!!!
