The campground is within a short drive or bike ride of the historic townsite of Dyea and a half mile from the Chilkoot Trailhead. The campground is monitored by National Park Service rangers and is open when free of snow.

For the camping experience of a lifetime and the grand large scale views are breathtaking. The two campgrounds one which is NPS and the second one which is run by Skagway municipality are perfect for any camping experience. Tell everybody in Skagway and your home towns.
Nice and quite place to visit and enjoy, either with an excursion or on your own, just be aware of the wildlife. Always be prepared or go with someone else.
Free! Donations highly recommended. River nearby. No potable water source so boil it first. Sites have picnic tables and fire rings. Really nice actually. Still can't believe it was free (I did donate). Managed by City of Skagway.
You can take the Dyea NPS walking tour from the campground which was a nice way to end the day.
Wow, what a cool campground! Being right by the river, you can definitely see why so many bears are in the area.
You can't beat the nightly price of FREE! During the summer months, even $10 a night is a steal of a deal here. Definitely recommend this campground. The day use is awesome too.
I even saw a red fox on my way in!
