Upper Shake Campground - CLOSED DUE TO IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

My Dad & I camped here many times in the late 1960's & 70's. Was Native American camp long ago. The huge boulders have acorn crushing "bowls" worn into them. I spent many days hiking the area pretending I was a young brave. It was a winding 2hr drive, and BEFORE Lake Castaic dam was built. We would camp out, shoot pop cans with 22's and it was Heaven on Earth to me. Sorry to see it's closed, but maybe best to let it sleep. Wish I could see it one more time.
