Soquel Campground consists of two loops on the banks of Willow Creek. The primitive sites are well-shaded by pine and fir trees and can accommodate small trailers and tents.
Trails can be found off Highway 41 west of the campground, including the 3.7-mile Lewis Creek National Recreation Trail and the Miami Motorcycle Trails, a network of forest roads and trails for dirt bikes and off-road vehicles.
The Shadow of the Giants, a grove of giant sequoias, is popular 1-mile hike just a short drive north of the campground.
Each site has a dirt parking spur, picnic table, campfire ring and grill. Vault toilets are provided, but drinking water is not available. Campers must bring their own supply.
The Sierra National Forest, located on the western slope of the central Sierra Nevada, is known for its spectacular mountain scenery and abundant natural resources. The terrain includes rolling, oak-covered foothills, heavily forested middle elevation slopes and the starkly beautiful alpine landscape of the High Sierra.
Soquel Campground is located in the Highway 41 Corridor of the Bass Lake Ranger District. This area is known for the Nelder Grove of giant sequoias.
Yosemite National Park is a popular day trip from the area. The historic logging train at Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad is a little closer to the campground.
Soquel Campground is just off the Sierra Vista Scenic Byway (Sky Ranch Road), an 83-mile drive past many highlights of Sierra National Forest.
From Fresno, take Highway 41 north through town of Oakhurst. Take the Sky Ranch Road (Road 632) east for 7 miles, turn southeast on Forest Road 6S40, and travel 1 mile to Soquel Campground.
Beautiful place right along a nice creek. clean restrooms no and no running water. I enjoyed my stay, but the camp host running this place june 2016 is VERY RUDE and unprofessional!!
Great place to visit. No showers only restrooms. The river is nice, allot of uneven sections on the dirt road on the way to the campground. Drive slow and steady. Absolutely no fresh water so bring your own. Also.. our neighbors spotted a bear 1/2 a mile away, so remember to put you food away every night.
Perfect place for those who like the sound of a river while sleeping. Mike (camp host) did a great job keeping the place clean and checking in on new arrivals. All the campers were very considerate and we got 3 awesome restful nights. It’s about 30-40 minutes outside Yosemite’s south entrance. Only neg is that it doesn’t have running water.
Great clean campground. Restrooms were available. Dumpster on site. Host mike was awesome. Could tell he was a little nervous about us city folk but as he surprised me being straight forward and very helpful only popping up to drop off some fire wood in the am. I hope we surprised him as well with how well we left the site. We were lucky to be able to enjoy one of the best spots in the park. Water was yards away and our 2 to 17 years had a blast being able to hit the water at in moment. A little pricey but it is definitely worth the coin with the hospitality of mike and the amiditets he dose offer. Looking forward to Definitely going back.
Amazing place to stay outside Yosemite National park. Mike is a fantastic and accommodating host who immediately makes you feel good about being there. It is a somewhat tough dirt road to the sites and there’s no cell signal at all but I consider that a good thing in this case.
