From I-5, take exit 698 Salt Creek/Gilman Road. Turn right at end of off ramp and follow Gilman Road east approximately 20 miles.
Beautiful campground. Close to the lake shore when lake levels are within 20 feet of full pool. Good during early season when the weather hasn't gotten too hot, and the campground hasn't gotten too busy. First come first serve... weekends fill up early.
Campground maintenance is lacking by Shasta Recreation Co... bear boxes were full of trash and unusable... other trash cans were overflowing... self pay envelopes were soaking wet and unusable. The supervising National Forest Service ranger station was notified of the situation, but they seemed not to care. With the prices of campground camping getting pricey, you sure don't get what you pay for anymore.
